First 2 passages of stage 5 in the bag

I'll be honest; I'm expecting a "holiday" stage. The trade winds are South-Westerly which would be just dandy for where I'm going. I reckon it's time summer caught up. So it's going to be warm and sunny.

You'll see from my pretty pie charts that I've had contra winds for most of my passages so far on this venture and at least half of my passages have been, shall we say, challenging. So stage 5 will redress the balance.

It started well. Passage 39 was glorious in every respect. Passage 40 was pretty brutal. It seems one has to pay ones dues. Passage 41 doesn't look like it's going to be a piece of cake either. Basically we're back to nasty low pressure systems whirling around all over the place making life miserable for everyone. Come on, 2015 season, throw me a frickin' bone! I'm in touch with a few people doing big seasonal sails and we're all having a testing time!

But I remain hopeful and, frankly, pleased to have conquered what has been thrown at me. So I'm not whingeing and I'm eager to see how things turn out. I've got no time pressures this time and I'll be taking shorter hops to sample the delights of as many ports and harbours as practicable. Tomorrow will be another quick leap (strong winds) to the River Exe. Lovely.
